Rush Postpone San Jose Show to Dec. 6 as Drummer Anika Nilles Battles Flu; Tickets Honored

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Canadian rock band Rush announced on Saturday, October 17, that their concert scheduled for that night at the SAP Center in San Jose has been postponed to December 6, 2026, after drummer Anika Nilles became too ill with the flu to perform. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date, the band said in a statement on social media, apologizing to fans and promising to return for the rescheduled show.
In a separate video message, guitarist Alex Lifeson said Nilles had already been in the early stages of the flu during the band's first San Jose show on Thursday, October 15, but made it through that performance. Her symptoms worsened over the following days, forcing the postponement. Lifeson said she is expected to need about four or five days to recover.
Rush are on the road with their "Fifty Something" tour, with Lifeson and bassist-vocalist Geddy Lee joined by Nilles on drums. The tour's next scheduled stop is the Enterprise Center in St. Louis on October 21, followed by Cincinnati, Washington, D.C., and Uncasville. Merchandise booths at the SAP Center did not open on October 17 and will open early on the December 6 makeup date.
