Small Plane Crashes at San Jose Intersection; Two Adults and a Child Hospitalized

SAN JOSE — San Jose is a city in Santa Clara County, California. A small plane crashed at the intersection of Capitol Expressway and Excalibur Drive at about 3 p.m. on Oct. 17, sending two adults and a child to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the San Jose Fire Department and local media reports.
The department said the aircraft was a 1968 Cessna 177A Cardinal registered to Flying Twenty Inc., the flying club of San Jose State University. No vehicles on the ground were struck, and firefighters handled a minor fuel spill. The Alum Rock Avenue off-ramp from Highway 680 was closed for hours, and the plane was towed away that evening.
The previous night, Oct. 16, another aircraft made a gear-collapse landing at Reid Hillview Airport, the flying club's home airport; both people aboard were uninjured. The cause of Saturday's crash remains under investigation.
