Ryland's Sixth Field Goal as Time Expires Lifts Cardinals Past Rams 18-16 at SoFi Stadium

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Arizona Cardinals kicker Chad Ryland made all six of his field-goal attempts on Sunday, October 18, including a 43-yarder as time expired, to lift Arizona to a stunning 18-16 victory over the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium — with every one of the Cardinals' points coming off Ryland's foot in a game in which Arizona never reached the end zone.
The finish swung twice in the final minute. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford hit Colby Parkinson for a touchdown with 47 seconds left — the score was initially ruled down at the 1-yard line before being overturned on review — and punter Ethan Evans, filling in for injured new kicker Blake Grupe, kicked the extra point to put Los Angeles ahead 16-15. Grupe hurt his knee making a tackle on a kickoff return in the first quarter and did not return, leaving the Rams without a placekicker the rest of the day. Arizona answered immediately: Jacoby Brissett drove the Cardinals 36 yards, aided by Jalen Brooks' 21-yard reception and a 15-yard unnecessary-roughness penalty on Josh Wallace, and Ryland buried the winner three snaps later.
Brissett threw for 218 yards; Stafford passed for 222 yards and two touchdowns, with Puka Nacua catching six passes for 80 yards. Arizona went 0-for-6 in the red zone on touchdowns but its defense throttled a Rams offense that entered the day leading the NFL in total yards. Both teams are now 2-4. The win snapped Arizona's three-game losing streak to the Rams and was its second victory at SoFi Stadium this season, after a Week 1 win over the Chargers. New Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur beat his former boss Sean McVay in their first meeting. (GSM, via the Associated Press)
