Bucks Waive Three After Preseason Finale as Roster Trimming Continues

Sunday, October 18, 2026 · States · GSM News

The Milwaukee Bucks announced on Oct. 17 that they have waived Pete Nance, Johni Broome and Jake Stephens, continuing to trim the roster ahead of the 2026-27 regular season. The announcement came less than 24 hours after the team's preseason finale, a 128-127 overtime loss to the Indiana Pacers.

Nance's departure drew the most attention. The 6-foot-9 forward/center played 47 games for the Bucks last season, averaging 5.4 points and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 51.5% from the field and 42.0% from three. He joined Milwaukee on a two-way contract in February 2025 and appeared in 53 games over two seasons. In this preseason he played four games, including one start, averaging 4.0 points and 3.3 rebounds.

Broome signed with the Bucks on Oct. 6 after spending his rookie season with the Philadelphia 76ers as a 2025 second-round pick; in the preseason game against the Chicago Bulls he played nine minutes and scored four points with three rebounds. Reports say that if Nance clears waivers, the Bucks may consider re-signing him to a two-way contract.
