NWS Issues Winter Storm Watch for Eastern Alaska Ranges; Up to 30 Inches of Snow Possible
FAIRBANKS — The National Weather Service office in Fairbanks has issued a Winter Storm Watch for eastern Alaska ahead of a major snow event early this week.
Forecasters say the Eastern Alaska Range could see 18 to 30 inches of snow above 2,500 feet and 12 to 18 inches below that elevation from Monday morning through late Wednesday, with wind gusts up to 40 mph. The Fairbanks North Star Borough and Nenana are expected to receive 4 to 8 inches from Tuesday morning through Wednesday afternoon, while the Denali Borough could see 8 to 12 inches.
