Nor'easter to Bring Strong Winds and High Surf to Delaware Beaches Starting Monday

LEWES — A nor'easter will affect the Delaware coast from October 19 to 21. The National Weather Service forecasts northeast winds of 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph from Lewes to Fenwick Island; by the 21st, surf is expected to build to 9 to 10 feet with offshore waves up to 15 feet and gusts to 45 knots, bringing the risk of minor coastal flooding. A gale warning is in effect for offshore waters on October 19-20.
Meteorologist Amanda Lee said the storm's exact impact remains uncertain, rainfall is not the main concern, and inland areas should be largely unaffected. (GSM, based on Delaware Online and National Weather Service forecasts)
