Panthers Make NHL History with Natural Hat Tricks in Three Straight Games
The Florida Panthers routed the Seattle Kraken 8-3 at home on Oct. 17 to set an NHL record: they are the first team in league history to have a player record a natural hat trick — three consecutive goals with no teammate or opponent scoring in between — in three straight games. Brady Tkachuk did it on Oct. 13 against Columbus and again on Oct. 15 against Vancouver. On Saturday, Carter Verhaeghe scored at 17:56 and 19:07 of the first period and 6:02 of the second, and Sam Bennett added a hat trick of his own in the third — the first time in franchise history two Panthers have scored three goals in the same game — while also reaching 400 career points. “You can thank Brady,” Verhaeghe joked afterward. The one concern: Matthew Tkachuk left the game early after a collision with Bennett; head coach Paul Maurice said his removal was precautionary.
