Auburn Stuns No. 1 Georgia 27-24 on a Walk-Off Field Goal in Athens

Auburn pulled off one of the season's biggest upsets on Oct. 17, beating No. 1 Georgia 27-24 at Sanford Stadium in Athens. Georgia led 14-0 before Auburn scored 24 straight points; the Bulldogs rallied in the fourth quarter to tie the game 24-24 on Gunner Stockton's 4-yard touchdown pass with 2:58 left. But Stockton fumbled on a quarterback run with 1:12 remaining — his third turnover of the game after two interceptions — and after Byrum Brown drove Auburn into range, Alex McPherson kicked the game-winning 34-yard field goal. It is Auburn's first win in Athens in 31 years and the sixth time in program history the Tigers have beaten a No. 1 team. Brown threw for 150 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 115 yards and another score as Auburn improved to 4-2. “Humble pie is coming. Auburn played better than us,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said.
