Pritzker Joins PJM Governors' Collaborative Seeking More State Say in Grid Decisions

Sunday, October 18, 2026 · States · GSM News

SPRINGFIELD — Illinois Governor JB Pritzker announced on October 13 that Illinois has joined the new PJM Governors' Collaborative, signing a memorandum of understanding with a bipartisan coalition of 13 governors and the mayor of Washington, D.C., formalized at the 2026 Governors' Summit on the State of PJM in Illinois.

PJM Interconnection operates the regional electric grid serving all or parts of 13 states and the District of Columbia, and its decisions affect power reliability and electricity prices for millions of families and businesses, including those in northern Illinois. The collaborative gives participating states a formal mechanism to coordinate positions, share technical expertise and advocate collectively, including for greater state representation in PJM's governance. "Families and businesses in Illinois depend on an electric grid that is reliable and affordable, and the decisions made at PJM have an enormous impact on both," Pritzker said. Delaware Governor Matt Meyer is also among the signatories.
