Sunday, October 18, 2026 · States · GSM News

TRENTON — Governor Mikie Sherrill announced on October 15 that she has nominated Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll and Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée Robeson to new five-year terms, keeping two veteran law enforcement officials in their posts. Both nominations require confirmation by the State Senate. Both prosecutors have served since 2021.

"Robert Carroll and Renée Robeson have shown unwavering dedication to public safety and the people they serve," Sherrill said. "Their experience, judgment, and integrity make them exceptional choices to continue leading these offices. I look forward to seeing the positive impact their leadership has on Morris and Hunterdon counties."

Carroll previously served as director of the Law Department at the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, overseeing legal operations for the agency, and his career has included organized crime investigations, special prosecutions and complex criminal cases. Robeson spent 17 years as an assistant prosecutor in Mercer County before becoming Hunterdon County prosecutor, where she led trial teams and the Special Victims and Megan's Law units. Under state law, county prosecutors are appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the Senate to five-year terms and must have practiced law in the state for at least five years.
