Oklahoma City Collects Messages for Route 66 Centennial Time Capsule, to Open in 2126

OKLAHOMA CITY — To mark the 100th anniversary of Route 66, Oklahoma City is inviting residents and visitors to leave messages for future generations: postcards will be sealed in a time capsule to be placed near the Kicks 66 sculpture on November 12, 2026, and opened in 2126.
Free postcards are available at the front desks of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum and the Oklahoma History Center, News 9 reported, and more than 1,000 have already been collected from libraries and other locations across the city. Route 66 was established in 1926 and turns 100 this year. (GSM, based on News 9 and City of Oklahoma City reports)
