Texas Falls 27-24 to Florida; Sarkisian Vows to 'Evaluate Everything' on Offense

No. 7 Texas lost its second straight game on Oct. 17, falling 27-24 to Florida at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin — a week after losing the Red River Rivalry to Oklahoma. Quarterback Arch Manning went 14-of-20 for 173 yards and a touchdown, but he was strip-sacked with under two minutes left and Texas trailing by three, ending the comeback bid. A frustrated head coach Steve Sarkisian said repeatedly afterward that Texas would “evaluate everything” on offense: “Was Arch perfect? No. But nobody was perfect on offense today. If it were one person, it'd be easy — change one guy and everything's going to be great. I don't think that was all the issue today.” Texas also lost its defensive star: edge rusher Colin Simmons, who entered the game leading the nation with 9.5 sacks, was carted off in the fourth quarter with a lower-leg injury; Sarkisian said he did not yet know its extent. Texas's next four SEC opponents are all ranked, clouding its College Football Playoff outlook.
