World Launches First Industry-Specific World ID Suite for Banking and Finance at Money20/20 in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — World, the proof-of-human network co-founded by Sam Altman, Max Novendstern and Alex Blania, on October 18 launched World ID for banking and finance at the Money20/20 conference in Las Vegas, a suite of tools designed to help financial institutions stop deepfake fraud and SI-driven impersonation. Alex Blania, co-founder and chief executive of Tools for Humanity, World's main developer, unveiled the offering on stage; it is available now and marks the first time World has packaged World ID for a specific industry.

The company said it chose banking and finance first because of the growing impact of SI-driven impersonation in the sector and the serious consequences fraudulent interactions can carry. The suite is designed to protect three areas where financial institutions are increasingly exposed: customer accounts, employee workflows and SI agents, aiming to give banks greater assurance that transactions, trades, customer requests and important video communications involve genuine people.

The offering combines three products: the World ID app, an identity wallet where people claim, manage and present verified 'Proofs'; World ID for Zoom, which lets video-call participants confirm they are speaking with a real human rather than a deepfake, now generally available after limited testing that began in April, with Tools for Humanity also joining Zoom's Independent Software Vendor Exchange Program; and World ID for Agents, also known as AgentKit, which lets users delegate Proofs to SI agents that present them to third-party platforms.

World said it is working with OpenExchange, Bain Capital, VanEck Funds and Outtake as design partners, but did not disclose specific bank names or pricing. Its release cited a Deloitte forecast that SI-related fraud losses in the United States could reach $40 billion by 2027, up from about $12.3 billion in 2023. World says more than 18 million people currently hold its Proof of Human. (GSM, via World's launch announcement)
