Christiane Amanpour Announces She Will Leave CNN Next June After 43 Years

ATLANTA — Christiane Amanpour, CNN's chief international anchor, announced on October 19 that she will sign off from CNN next June, ending a 43-year partnership with the network, CNN reported. 'After many months of thought and a few sleepless nights, I have decided to separate from CNN, my partner of 43 fantastic years,' Amanpour, 68, said in a statement, adding that she looks forward to new projects and closing with her signature line: 'always be truthful, not neutral.' A household name worldwide for her foreign correspondence, Amanpour has hosted an eponymous nightly interview program on CNN International since 2009. She scaled back to hosting a few days a week in January 2025; in January 2027 the program will shift to once a week until it ends in May, and she will continue reporting and traveling for CNN through June. CNN chairman Mark Thompson told colleagues the two had discussed the decision for months, calling Amanpour 'one of the most trusted and beloved journalists anywhere' and thanking her for '43 extraordinary years of remarkable journalism, loyalty and friendship.'
