Gaithersburg, Maryland — The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) kicked off Cybersecurity Career Week on October 19. The campaign, led by the NICE Program at NIST, runs October 19-24, 2026, and aims to raise public awareness of cybersecurity careers and help people find their path into the field. During the week, academia, industry, non-profit organizations and government agencies host events, share resources and provide training.

According to NIST's schedule, an X chat, #CyberCareerChat, runs October 19 from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. ET, with @NISTCyber and NICE partners answering career questions. A webinar titled "Breaking Into Cybersecurity: Real Stories from Recent Graduates" follows on October 20 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. ET, and a webinar on charting student pathways into cybersecurity careers runs October 21 at the same time. A six-day #mycyberjob social media challenge runs throughout October 19-24.

NIST said the official Career Week website offers global and local event listings, interactive toolkits and free career planning resources, with turnkey event guides for educators and mentors. The public can also explore the NICE Framework for the range of cybersecurity roles and skills, check CyberSeek for in-demand jobs, and use the Cyber Career Pathways Tool to map out career routes.
