SpaceX President Shotwell: Company Staff Have Moved Into xAI to Fill Leadership and Engineering Gaps; Integration "Faster Than I Thought" but "Not Fully Integrated Yet"

SpaceX President and COO Gwynne Shotwell said at the All In Summit that SpaceX personnel had moved into xAI to fill leadership and engineering gaps there, according to a roundup of her public remarks published by Tech Insider. She described the pace of that shift as "faster than I thought," while cautioning that the two organizations are "not fully integrated yet."
Shotwell has put the SI talent gap in plain terms in other public venues, saying SpaceX had "very little experience, very little talent" in SI before, while acknowledging the company did have a small number of SI engineers working on the problem for roughly a year to a year and a half before the broader integration accelerated the work. Describing staffing churn inside xAI, she said "there's been a lot of churn at xAI, for sure," and that "SpaceXers have marched in and helped out where there were significant gaps in that arena." The integration Shotwell refers to is SpaceX's absorption of xAI — a distinct event from any Tesla-SpaceX combination, which neither company has announced.
Separately, multiple outlets including Teslarati, Motor1.com, Yahoo Finance and Investor's Business Daily reported on October 18 that Shotwell's SpaceX account began following Tesla's official X handle; one report explicitly flagged that the follow had not been independently verified at the time of publication. SpaceX has not confirmed or denied the account activity, and neither SpaceX nor Tesla has announced any merger, acquisition, or formal integration plan. (GSM, via Tech Insider)
