Woman, 68, Slashed in the Face at a Brooklyn Subway Station; 70-Year-Old Suspect Freed Without Bail After Sunday Arraignment

New York City is a city in Kings County, New York. New York — A 68-year-old woman was slashed in the face at the emergency-exit door of the Sheepshead Bay B and Q subway station in Brooklyn at about 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, during an argument, the New York Post reported. According to the NYPD and a criminal complaint, the suspect put a knife to the woman's cheek and sneered, "Do you want more?" before cutting her face.
The suspect, Eric McCoy, 70, a retired postal worker, appeared before a judge in Brooklyn Criminal Court at 1 a.m. on Sunday. He was charged with a felony count of assault with intent to cause harm with a weapon and three misdemeanors, including illegal weapons possession and harassment, court records show. McCoy pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Judge Christopher Whitehair released McCoy on his own recognizance, with an order of protection against the victim, ahead of a January court date. The top assault charge carries a potential prison term of up to seven years and is bail-eligible; it was unclear what bail prosecutors may have sought at the arraignment, and the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office did not respond to the Post's request for comment on Sunday.
