Kid Rock on Christian Album 'Halfway 2 Jesus': Hoping to Bring Faith Music to Stadiums

American singer Kid Rock (born Robert James Ritchie), 55, discussed his first Christian album, Halfway 2 Jesus, in a recent interview with Fox News host Lara Trump. According to the Christian Post (October 19), Kid Rock said he hopes to bring his faith-based music to arenas and stadiums and inspire a revival, describing the album as being about "second chances and forgiveness": "I wanted to create the songs that I wanted to go to church and hear."
He said that after Charlie Kirk was assassinated, "like a lot of people, I started to become closer to my faith." But he pushed back on the idea that the album stems from a conversion: "I didn't get saved. I'm still Kid Rock. I'm still going to drink a beer and smoke a cigar. I feel like I've always been right with God." He described the record as a reflection of his lifelong relationship with God.
The 17-song album was released on October 17 and was reported by GSM the same day: Eminem appears on "Heal My Faith," Lil Wayne on "7 Sins," and country singers Gary LeVox and Jimmie Allen join the title track "Halfway 2 Jesus"; the lead single is "James 1:17 (Jesus Is King)."
