Monday, October 19, 2026 · States · GSM News

SALEM, Ore. — Governor Tina Kotek announced that her office is accepting applications for the position of Morrow County District Attorney. The vacancy arises as incumbent District Attorney Justin Nelson prepares to leave the post: in September the Governor appointed Nelson to the circuit court bench for the Sixth Judicial District, covering Umatilla and Morrow counties, effective January 1, 2027. The Governor will fill the District Attorney vacancy by appointment. Interested applicants must submit a District Attorney Interest Form to the Governor's Office by 5 p.m. on November 11. Nelson, a native Oregonian who earned his law degree from Willamette University, has served as Morrow County's District Attorney and county counsel and previously worked in the Umatilla County District Attorney's Office.
