The New England Patriots defeated the New York Jets 26-19 on Sunday, October 18, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, extending their winning streak to three games and improving to 4-2 atop the AFC East. The Jets fell to 2-4.

Patriots quarterback Drake Maye completed 18 of 32 passes for 235 yards and threw touchdown passes to three different receivers: a 42-yarder to Romeo Doubs in the first quarter, a 9-yarder to DeMario Douglas just before halftime, and a 7-yarder to Hunter Henry early in the fourth quarter. Douglas led the team with seven catches for 86 yards. Kicker Andy Borregales made a 27-yard field goal with 1:12 remaining to stretch the lead to 26-16; the Jets closed to 26-19 on Jason Sanders' 36-yard field goal with 32 seconds left, but New England recovered the onside kick to end the game.

Jets quarterback Geno Smith completed 20 of 30 passes for 252 yards, opening the second half with a 48-yard touchdown pass to rookie Omar Cooper Jr. that cut the lead to 17-10. It was New York's only touchdown of the day — its other points came from four Sanders field goals — and Smith was intercepted for the first time this season.

The win came at a cost for New England: offensive linemen Morgan Moses (ankle), Ben Brown (right knee) and Alijah Vera-Tucker (hamstring) all left the game and did not return. The Patriots face a short week before a Thursday night trip to face the Chicago Bears. (GSM, based on Reuters and The Providence Journal)
