Vikings Designate RB Jordan Mason to Return to Practice

Monday, October 19, 2026 · Sports · GSM News

The Minnesota Vikings announced on October 19 at the team's facility in Eagan, Dakota County, Minnesota, that running back Jordan Mason has been designated to return to practice from injured reserve, opening a 21-day window for the team to activate him.

Mason suffered a hand injury in the Vikings' Week 1 win over the Green Bay Packers, in which he carried 15 times for 59 yards and a touchdown, and has missed four games after undergoing surgery. The Vikings are 5-0 coming out of their Week 6 bye, and there is optimism that Mason will be ready for Sunday's home game against the Indianapolis Colts at U.S. Bank Stadium.

In Mason's absence, veteran running back Aaron Jones has carried most of the workload in the backfield. Head coach Kevin O'Connell said earlier this month that where the offense goes will be a big part of the team's success, and that Mason will be a big part of that as he returns from the bye.
