Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Renews Hep B Vaccine Attack During Concord Visit

Monday, October 19, 2026 · States · GSM News

U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. visited Concord, the state capital in Merrimack County, New Hampshire, on October 16, where he again cast doubt on the safety of the hepatitis B vaccine but would not comment on New Hampshire legislation that his agency inspired.

According to the New Hampshire Bulletin, Kennedy fired every member of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices in June 2025 and replaced them with fellow vaccine skeptics. His new panel voted that December to rescind the recommendation that infants receive the hepatitis B shot at birth unless the mother tested positive for the virus. The federal schedule is only a recommendation; states set their own requirements.

The same week, the board overseeing the National Institutes of Health research hospital voted unanimously to support a statement by its chairman, Jack Leslie, accusing Kennedy of undermining trust in science and politicizing the hospital's work, after Kennedy made an unannounced NIH visit, held a ribbon-cutting for a new vaccine injury clinic and led a round table with patients who said they had been injured by vaccines.
