Nevada Wolf Pack Earn AP Preseason Votes, One of Only Two Mountain West Teams Listed
In Reno, Washoe County, Nevada, the University of Nevada Wolf Pack men's basketball team received two votes in the 2026-27 Associated Press Preseason Top 25 poll released on October 19. The Wolf Pack and Grand Canyon, which also received two votes, were the only two Mountain West programs to earn votes.
Nevada finished last season 24-13 and reached the quarterfinals of the National Invitation Tournament, going 17-2 at the Lawlor Events Center to tie the program record for home wins in a season. The team returns four players — Elijah Price, Vaughn Weems, Peyton White and Myles Walker — and added 10 newcomers. Price and Weems were both named to the Preseason All-Mountain West Team.
The Wolf Pack beat Utah 71-61 in an exhibition game and will host Portland State in a second exhibition on October 25 at 1 p.m. at the Lawlor Events Center, before opening the regular season at home against Robert Morris on November 2 at 7 p.m. Nevada has 18 home games this season. Florida, Duke and Illinois took the top three spots in the preseason AP poll.
