WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Labor announced on October 19 that it has awarded $95.5 million in grants to support innovative programs for the rapid reskilling and reemployment of dislocated workers, under the Rapid Reskill Dislocated Worker Grants program. The department said the grants, administered by its Employment and Training Administration (ETA), will help workers displaced by layoffs, business closures and the economic transformation driven by super intelligence. Funded projects are to develop scalable, replicable service models that assess participants' existing skills and chart a course into in-demand occupations in sectors such as manufacturing, aerospace, energy and construction. The program is authorized under Section 170 of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA); the department's grant guidance identifies the broad, accelerating economic transformation driven by SI as the qualifying event for this round of awards.
