Hong Kong welcomed more than 40.7 million visitors between January and September 2026, a 12% year-on-year rise, according to the Hong Kong Tourism Board. Mainland China accounted for about 31 million arrivals, up 14%, while international numbers were boosted by major events including the Hong Kong Football Festival 2026 and the TMElive International Music Awards.
In September alone, arrivals reached 4.03 million, up 22%, driven by Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations and other events. The city projects 53.8 million visitors by year-end, up 7.8% from 2025.
Looking ahead, Hong Kong's calendar includes Halloween events, the Wine & Dine Festival, WinterFest and the New Year Countdown, as the tourism board seeks to attract more high-value visitors. Hong Kong is the world's second most visited city after Bangkok.
