Taylor Swift Performs Four Songs as Academy Museum Gala Honors Theron, Domingo and Carpenter

Monday, October 19, 2026 · Film · GSM News

The sixth annual Academy Museum Gala was held on the evening of October 17 at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. Taylor Swift closed the evening as the special musical performer, singing four songs: "I Knew It, I Knew You," her original song for the animated film "Toy Story 5," along with "Blank Space," "Love Story" and "The Fate of Ophelia." "I Knew It, I Knew You" previously reached No. 1 on U.S. country radio, her first song to top that list in 13 years.

The gala honored three film figures: Charlize Theron received the Icon Award, Colman Domingo the Vantage Award, and filmmaker-composer John Carpenter the Luminary Award. Museum director and president Amy Homma said Swift's work resonates around the world and that the museum was thrilled to welcome her to close an evening honoring the three artists.

This year's gala was co-chaired by Tom Ford, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, with Rolex as presenting partner. Proceeds support the museum's exhibitions, educational programs and public screenings; according to the Associated Press, last year's edition raised more than $12 million.

Programming tied to Carpenter's honor included screenings of his films, including "Halloween" (1978), alongside the museum's new large-scale exhibition "The Horror Show."
