North American Box Office Jumps 45% to $101.6 Million as 'Street Fighter' Debuts at No. 1

North American theaters grossed about $101.6 million over the October 16-18 weekend, up roughly 45% from the same weekend last year. Paramount and Legendary's video game adaptation "Street Fighter" opened in 3,575 theaters with $31 million to take first place, adding $20.1 million internationally for a $51.1 million global debut. The $82 million production, directed by Kitao Sakurai and starring Noah Centineo and Andrew Koji, is the franchise's third live-action film after versions in 1994 and 2009.
Second place went to A24's documentary "You Can See Everything," which earned $15 million from just 855 theaters, the biggest documentary opening in more than two decades. The horror film "Other Mommy" was third with $8.4 million, followed by the survival drama "Whalefall" at $8.0 million and the new "Sense and Sensibility" at $7.3 million.
Exhibitors said the top five — spanning a game adaptation, a documentary, horror and a literary adaptation — showed a marketplace drawing on varied genres rather than a single franchise.
Year-to-date North American ticket sales have reached roughly $8.2 billion, almost 20% ahead of 2025.
