National Park Fee-Free Day on Oct. 27: Entrance Waived for Theodore Roosevelt's Birthday

Oct. 27, Theodore Roosevelt's birthday, is the ninth of the National Park Service's 10 fee-free days for 2026, when U.S. citizens and residents can enter every NPS site that charges an entrance fee for free, according to the agency. Only Veterans Day, Nov. 11, remains after it. The waiver covers entrance fees only; camping, reservation and special-use permit fees still apply.
By Oct. 27, Rocky Mountain National Park's timed-entry season is over, so Arches, Glacier, Rocky Mountain and Yosemite can all be entered without a reservation, during fall-color season at several eastern parks. At Yellowstone, every campground except year-round Mammoth is closed by Oct. 27. Under rules effective Jan. 1, 2026, international visitors are excluded from fee-free days. The America the Beautiful annual pass for U.S. residents costs $80.
