Cattle Truck Overturns in Kansas City: 45 to 60 Cattle Killed, Dozens Roam Downtown

A cattle truck carrying 120 head of cattle overturned on Interstate 70 in downtown Kansas City at about 3 a.m. on Oct. 18, killing 45 to 60 cattle and sending dozens more roaming city streets.
The Kansas City Fire Department said the crash happened on a westbound I-70 curve passing over southbound I-35, where two vehicles collided and the truck rolled. Both drivers were taken to a hospital in stable condition. Fire crews used drones to track the loose cattle, which were reported as far away as the Crown Center area, three miles off, and across the river in Kansas City, Kansas; workers on horseback eventually rounded them up. Police said all cattle were located and accounted for. The wreck closed the highway for hours and disrupted the early commute. (GSM, via USA Today / Associated Press)
