Suns Waive Brea and Huntley at Roster Deadline, Convert Reath and Claim Timme on Two-Way Deals

PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns announced on October 19 that they had waived two-way players Koby Brea and CJ Huntley ahead of the NBA's regular-season roster deadline, set for 2 p.m. Phoenix time that day.
The Suns also converted training-camp center Duop Reath to a two-way contract and claimed forward Drew Timme off waivers, signing him to a two-way deal as well. Phoenix's three two-way spots are now held by Timme, Reath and guard Pat Spencer.
Brea, the 41st pick in the 2025 draft, appeared in 12 games for Phoenix last season, averaging 3.8 points while shooting 43.3% from three-point range, and spent the rest of his time with the G League's Valley Suns. The 6-foot-11 Huntley played only four games for the Suns last season. Timme, a former Gonzaga star, played for the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers over the past two seasons, averaging 5.6 points in 36 career NBA games; he was in training camp with Minnesota this fall and was waived on Saturday before Phoenix claimed him.
The moves add frontcourt depth while starting center Mark Williams recovers from shoulder surgery in August; he is expected to miss several months. According to The Arizona Republic, head coach Jordan Ott has yet to name a starting center. The Suns open the season on Wednesday at Portland against the Trail Blazers.
