Wisconsin Governor Urges USDA to Withdraw New 25% Cost-Share Rule for Dairy Program

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers wrote to U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins on October 19 demanding that the USDA immediately withdraw its new 25 percent cost-share requirement for the Dairy Business Innovation Initiative (DBII). Evers said the sudden requirement jeopardizes millions of dollars in support for Wisconsin dairy farmers, cheesemakers and processors. A coalition of 28 dairy organizations and U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin have likewise called for the requirement to be rescinded, warning that the four DBII centers could be forced to close.
