NPS, Yellowstone Forever and Tallgrass Announce $105 Million Fund for Yellowstone National Park

The National Park Service (NPS), Yellowstone Forever — the park's official nonprofit partner — and Tallgrass, a Blackstone Infrastructure company, on October 19 announced in Mammoth Hot Springs, Wyoming, the creation of a $105 million Conservation and Stewardship Fund for Yellowstone National Park, providing a permanent funding source for the park's long-term protection. The partners said it is the largest single private donation the National Park Service has ever received.
Established in 1872, Yellowstone is the world's first national park, covering more than 2.2 million acres across Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, and is known for its geothermal features, wildlife and natural and cultural resources. It is managed by the National Park Service.
The fund will support three directions: advancing conservation and scientific research; improving visitor access and experience through infrastructure investment; and expanding opportunities for Wyoming students and community members to visit Yellowstone, including a new Tallgrass WYld Yellowstone Initiative. Tallgrass has operated energy infrastructure in Wyoming for more than a decade, the announcement said.
Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum said the $105 million investment combines American business strength with conservation to expand public access to Yellowstone. Yellowstone Forever President and CEO Lisa Diekmann said the funding would let the organization address urgent needs while building long-term support for research, education, stewardship and visitor infrastructure. The Park Service stated that management decisions for the park remain entirely with the agency, and that fund-supported projects must comply with existing law, policy and park priorities.
