Third Malibu Moves Running Festival Returns to Zuma Beach October 24–25 With Five Distances

Tuesday, October 20, 2026 · Events · GSM News

The third annual Malibu Moves running festival returns to Zuma Beach in Malibu, Los Angeles County, California, on October 24 and 25, 2026, starting and finishing at Zuma Beach Lot 12, 30050 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA 90265. Billed as the only running event within the city of Malibu and presented by Rusnak, the two-day festival is open for registration through the event website, malibumoves.com, which links to the RunSignup entry system. The organizer's 2026 Event Guide confirms the full weekend schedule.

Saturday, October 24, is Expo and packet pickup day, open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The 1K Kids Run, for ages 4 to 10 and untimed, starts at 2 p.m., with every child receiving a bib, shirt and finisher medal. The 1-Mile Zuma Dash, open to everyone ages 4 and up for running or walking and chip timed, starts at 3 p.m. The Saturday festival area also includes bounce castles, face painting and the Art for Everyone activity zone run by Pepperdine's Center for the Arts, open to all ages.

Sunday, October 25, is race day. The Half Marathon starts at 8 a.m., followed by the 10K and 5K at 8:30 a.m. The courses run along Pacific Coast Highway, with the Pacific Ocean on one side and the Santa Monica Mountains on the other, and the Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and Zuma Dash are all chip timed. Registration includes a finisher medal, event shirt, goodie bag, timing chip, post-race snacks and festival access. Organizers ask Sunday runners to arrive two hours early — by 6 a.m. for the Half Marathon and 6:30 a.m. for the 10K and 5K.

Three challenges headline the 2026 edition: the Coastal Quest Challenge, which pairs Saturday's Zuma Dash with any Sunday distance for three medals in total; the California Double, linking Malibu Moves with the spring Mountains 2 Beach race; and the Zuma Legacy Club, whose returning runners collect a medal each year that together spell "Malibu." A Charity Entry program lets runners register with $0 upfront and commit to raising $500 for one of five nonprofit partners in exchange for the full VIP package. The program has donated over $110,000 to local causes in its first two years; the 2026 charity partners include the Malibu Education Foundation, Emily Shane Foundation, Girls on the Run of LA County and the Sarah Shulze Foundation.

For drivers, the ocean-side southbound lane and shoulder of Pacific Coast Highway will be coned off for the course on Sunday, October 25, from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the highway stays open but delays are expected. The Zuma entrance on PCH closes at 4:30 a.m., with access via Westward Beach Road. Spectators park in the Zuma Beach lots, with the start and finish line at Lot 12 the designated cheering point.
