RADwood NorCal Returns to Alameda on October 24: Mix Master Mike Headlines Free Evening Car Festival
The city of Alameda, in Alameda County, California, will host a celebration of 1980s and 1990s car culture on Saturday, October 24, when RADwood NorCal runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Gold Bar Hangar at historic Alameda Point. Attendance is free with advance registration, which the organizer values at $25, and Hagerty Drivers Club members may enter early at 3 p.m. RADwood, driven by Hagerty and presented by Goodyear, is an automotive festival built around period-correct cars, trucks and motorcycles from 1980 to 1999 and the culture of those decades. This year's edition is the brand's first free-to-attend evening event: hundreds of period-correct vehicles will be on site, and the Wheels in Motion demonstration will send era-defining cars past the crowd at full throttle. Featured classes include Kei Cars, Tuners, Movie Cars and Mustang vs. Camaro, and a new Millenia class expands the show for the first time to cars from 2000 to 2010. Bay Area food trucks will be on site, attendees can enter the Raddest Dressed period-outfit contest, and Pioneer serves as official sound partner. The evening is headlined by Bay Area native DJ and producer Mix Master Mike, a three-time DMC World DJ Champion who co-founded the turntablist crew Invisibl Skratch Piklz with DJ Qbert and DJ Apollo before becoming the longtime DJ for the Beastie Boys, starting with the 1998 album Hello Nasty and the world tour that followed; both the show and the concert are free with advance registration. Hagerty Chief Marketing Officer Marc Burns said this year's edition adds full-throttle iconic cars, a new evening format and a live DJ set, and makes attendance free. Show car owners can register their vehicles on the RADwood website.
