Vienna Airport Named Europe's Ground Handler of the Year for a Third Time at Payload Asia Awards

Vienna Airport, Austria's largest airport, announced on October 20 that it has once again been named Ground Handler of the Year – Europe at the Payload Asia Awards. Following wins in 2022 and 2025, this is the third time Vienna Airport has received the title; the award was presented on October 19, 2026, during the 13th Payload Asia Awards in Singapore. The airport said the award once again confirms the consistently high quality of service and reliability across all its ground and cargo handling operations on an international level.
Julian Jäger, joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport, said three awards as Europe's best ground handler are a strong international endorsement of the quality of the airport's ground handling services, and that in a highly competitive market, efficient processes, reliability and high-performance standards are crucial factors for success. He said the ranking is primarily thanks to the dedication and expertise of the ground handling teams.
Michael Zach, Senior Vice President Ground Handling & Cargo Operations, said that whether it is aircraft handling, baggage handling, large cargo volumes or the transport of sensitive pharmaceuticals, Vienna Airport offers customers reliable services and fast turnaround times even when demands are high, with modern infrastructure, well-coordinated processes and experienced teams working together seamlessly. He said the renewed award confirms the airport's high-quality standards and serves as an incentive to continuously improve services for airlines, freight forwarders and passengers.
