Amazon MGM Studios has set the live-action/CGI hybrid Lizard Music for a theatrical release on Christmas Day, December 25, 2027, Deadline reported in an exclusive on Monday. Benny Safdie directs from his own script, adapted from Daniel Pinkwater's 1976 novel of the same name. Dwayne Johnson stars as the septuagenarian Chicken Man, reuniting with Safdie after last year's A24 release The Smashing Machine. The film follows a boy who stumbles on a secret late-night broadcast of lizards playing otherworldly music; his search for answers leads him to the eccentric Chicken Man and his chicken companion Claudia, and the two set out to find a hidden society. The cast also includes Theo Clark Leber, Alicia Silverstone, Regina Hall, Colman Domingo, Jeff Goldblum and Rachel McAdams. Producers include Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt of United Artists and Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions. Principal photography began in August. Also opening on Christmas Day 2027 are Amazon MGM's Alone at Dawn and Warner Bros.' Paris Paramount.
