National Health Education Week Runs Oct. 19-23; South Carolina Health Agency Marks the Observance

National Health Education Week 2026 runs from October 19 to 23. The annual observance, led by the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) since 1995 and initially launched in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, aims to raise national awareness of major public health issues and promote a better understanding of the role of health education. The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) marked the week with an October 19 announcement recognizing the work of its community engagement staff in the communities they serve. This year's program features five daily webinars: ethical applications of SI in health educator training on October 19; universal design strategies for accessibility on October 20; public health informatics and workforce development on October 21; thriving Indigenous communities on October 22; and advancing reproductive health equity through health literacy on October 23. SOPHE says the week also seeks to increase awareness of health education specialists' capacity in communities and schools and to promote the health of society.
