Chaldean Church Synod of Bishops Concludes in Rome With a Statement to the Faithful at Home and in the Diaspora

The Synod of Bishops of the Chaldean Catholic Church met in Rome from October 16 to 19 and issued a final statement at its close. The synod was presided over by Patriarch Mar Polis III Nona, and in the statement the bishops addressed the Chaldean faithful in their homeland and throughout the diaspora.
During the gathering, a Mass celebrating ecclesial communion was held in St. Peter's Square on October 14, and a Divine Liturgy in the Chaldean rite was celebrated at St. Peter's Basilica on October 15, bringing together bishops, priests and faithful from around the world. The statement says the bishops brought to the synod the joys and concerns of their dioceses, the hopes of families and young people, and the challenges facing priests and consecrated persons.
The bishops also expressed their filial regard for Pope Leo XIV and prayed for his complete recovery and lasting health following his discharge from hospital. The Chaldean Church is an Eastern Catholic church in communion with Rome, with faithful in Iraq and a wide diaspora in North America, Europe and Australia.
