Gray Media Teams Up With SWAC: Dozens of College Games to Air Free Over the Air

Tuesday, October 20, 2026 · States · GSM News

On October 20 in Atlanta, Georgia, the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), Triple B Media, and Atlanta-based Gray Media announced a collaboration to simulcast dozens of SWAC athletic events free over the air, complementing the recently launched SWAC TV FAST streaming channel and giving fans more ways to watch at no cost.

SWAC has 12 member institutions and 18 conference-sponsored sports, and the broadcasts will include football, basketball, soccer and other popular men's and women's sports. Gray Media stations in markets with SWAC institutions will air games from their local schools, including WAFF and WAAY in Huntsville, Alabama; WSFA, WCOV and WIYC in Montgomery, Alabama; and WLBT in Jackson, Mississippi, with viewers advised to check local listings. Gray Media holds a minority interest in Triple B Media.

"This collaboration shows Gray's continued focus on free local sports for local viewers," said Joshua Pila, Gray Media's vice president of content acquisition. SWAC Commissioner Dr. Charles McClelland said the conference remains committed to making its events accessible through a variety of viewing options and thanked its media partners for supporting the visibility of member institutions and student-athletes. Gray Media, headquartered in Atlanta, is the nation's largest owner of local television stations, serving 117 television markets reaching about 37% of U.S. television households.
