Neshoba County Man Sentenced to 12 Months for Vehicle Theft on the Choctaw Indian Reservation

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Mississippi announced that Joshua Hickman, of Neshoba County, was sentenced to 12 months in federal prison for theft of a motor vehicle from the Choctaw Indian Reservation. U.S. Attorney Baxter Kruger and Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark made the announcement.
According to court documents, Hickman, 30, of the Pearl River Community, unlawfully took a motor vehicle from the Silver Star Hotel & Casino of the Pearl River Resort. He was driving the vehicle when he was stopped by a Neshoba County deputy during a routine traffic stop on October 25, 2025.
A federal grand jury indicted Hickman in January 2026, and on March 3, 2026, he entered a plea of guilty. The Neshoba County Sheriff's Department and the Choctaw Police Department of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians jointly investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kevin J. Payne and Brian K. Burns and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Kalleigh McCoy prosecuted it.
