Carthage Woman Pleads Guilty to Possession of Methamphetamine With Intent to Distribute

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Mississippi announced on October 20, 2026, that Leake County woman Latonya Hines pleaded guilty that day to possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. U.S. Attorney Baxter Kruger and Robert Eikhoff, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Jackson Office, made the announcement.
According to court documents, in April 2026 Hines possessed more than 10 grams of methamphetamine with intent to distribute it in Carthage, Mississippi. A federal grand jury indicted her in August 2026. The case was investigated by the FBI Safe Trails Task Force, together with officers of the Carthage Police Department, the Choctaw Police Department and the FBI; the task force has maintained a presence on the Choctaw Indian Reservation since 2022.
Hines is scheduled to be sentenced on February 23, 2027, and faces a minimum penalty of five years and a maximum of forty years in prison; a federal district judge will determine the sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kevin J. Payne and Brian K. Burns and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Kalleigh McCoy prosecuted the case.
