Hawaii Launches Climate Rebate Finder: One Stop for Appliance, Water and Clean-Transportation Rebates

Tuesday, October 20, 2026 · States · GSM News

Honolulu, Hawaii: The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) announced on October 19 that the state Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission (CCMAC) has launched the Hawaii Climate Rebate Finder, a tool that consolidates cash-back programs, tax incentives and financial assistance scattered across state agencies, counties, utilities and organizations into one hub for residents and businesses upgrading appliances, water systems, facilities and transportation.

DLNR said increasing affordability is a priority of Governor Josh Green, and that many residents miss out on hundreds or even thousands of dollars in rebates simply because programs are spread across different agencies and organizations. The finder covers home appliance upgrades, agricultural and commercial water efficiency, business lighting and HVAC retrofits, and clean transportation, and includes dedicated resources for commercial operations, small businesses and nonprofit organizations.

Bill Unruh, CCMAC's climate outreach leader, said he recently used the finder when buying a new refrigerator and found a rebate that saved him $250, adding that without a centralized tool it is easy to miss cash back one is eligible to receive. Commission coordinator Leah Laramee said the finder was created so households and commercial operations can claim every dollar of savings available to them.

According to DLNR, the tool advances the Hawaii Climate Action Pathways (HICAP), the state's community-driven climate plan. Because funding pools, eligibility rules and deadlines vary by program, the department advises residents and business operators to check the finder at climate.hawaii.gov under the Money Savings Solutions tab, or directly at climate.hawaii.gov/save/, before making major equipment purchases.
