Texas Man to Plead Guilty in $1.5 Million Deed Fraud and Money Laundering Schemes

Tuesday, October 20, 2026 · Federal · GSM News

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts announced on October 20 that Moshe Levi, 61, of Carrollton, Texas, has agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. A plea hearing has not yet been scheduled. Levi was charged in July 2026 along with two co-defendants.

Prosecutors allege that beginning around June 2023, the conspirators targeted vacant, unencumbered land in Massachusetts, Georgia, Indiana and Tennessee whose owners lived out of state. They allegedly obtained fake identification documents and passports in the owners' names, impersonated the owners, and tricked real estate professionals into listing, selling and deeding the land to unsuspecting buyers.

The roughly $1.5 million in proceeds was allegedly laundered through personal and corporate bank accounts. Each conspiracy charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison; sentencing will be determined by a federal judge if the plea is accepted.

The charges are allegations unless and until proven in court; Levi has agreed to plead guilty, and the final convictions and sentence rest with the court. (GSM, via the Department of Justice)
