Minnesota: Minneapolis VA Offers Walk-In Flu Shots at 14 Sites on Three Thursday Afternoons

The Minneapolis VA Health Care System in Minnesota announced on October 19 that it will offer walk-in flu shot events for enrolled Veterans over the next three Thursday afternoons.
The clinics will run from 1 to 3 p.m. on October 22, October 29 and November 5 at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, One Veterans Drive, and at all 13 Community Based Outpatient Clinics, including sites in Albert Lea, Ely, Hibbing, Mankato and Maplewood, with several clinics located across the state line in Wisconsin. COVID-19 vaccines will also be available at the walk-in clinics at the Medical Center. Veterans may also receive flu and COVID-19 vaccines during a regularly scheduled VA appointment, or schedule an appointment just for vaccines.
"There is no need to make an appointment to receive a flu vaccine during these events," said Megan Daman, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Program manager at the Minneapolis VA. "Veterans can simply walk in during these events from 1 to 3 p.m." The VA notes that flu viruses spread when an infected person coughs, sneezes, talks or laughs, and that people with flu can spread the virus beginning about one day before symptoms appear and for up to five days after becoming sick. The Minneapolis VA Health Care System serves more than 100,000 Veterans at 15 locations. (GSM, based on the Minneapolis VA Health Care System news release)
