Mississippi Governor Appoints Russell B. Jordan as DeSoto County Court Judge, Effective November 1

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves announced in Jackson on October 19 the appointment of Russell B. Jordan of Hernando as County Court Judge for DeSoto County. The appointment fills a vacancy created when the former County Court Judge Craig Treadway was appointed to serve as circuit court judge for the 21st Circuit Court District. Jordan's appointment begins November 1, 2026, and he will serve until the position is filled by special election next November.
Governor Reeves said Jordan's extensive courtroom experience, commitment to the rule of law and record of public service have prepared him for the role, and that his experience as a prosecuting attorney and civil litigator, combined with his dedication to the people of DeSoto County, makes him exceptionally qualified for judicial service. Jordan currently serves as the acting county prosecutor for DeSoto County and the City of Hernando, and previously served as the prosecuting attorney for the City of Horn Lake. Over a nearly two-decade legal career, he has handled a wide range of civil and criminal matters and tried cases in state and federal courts across the South.
Jordan earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law and his B.B.A. from Mississippi State University, and is a member of the state bars of Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas.
