MUNA Tour Bus Catches Fire on the 5 Freeway in Burbank; All Members Safe and No Injuries Reported

The tour bus of indie pop band MUNA caught fire on the morning of Monday, October 19, while traveling southbound on the 5 Freeway in Burbank, California, at around 8:20 a.m. local time, KTLA reported. The Burbank Fire Department responded and contained the fire. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
MUNA later posted an aerial image of the scene from KTLA coverage on Instagram, writing: "The band MUNA as seen on the news this morning. Many personal items were lost but we're all safe, thank goodness." The band announced no concert cancellations.
MUNA is a Los Angeles trio made up of lead singer Katie Gavin, guitarist Josette Maskin and guitarist-producer Naomi McPherson. The group is currently on its Gets So Hot tour and, according to reports, had performed at Stanford's Frost Amphitheater the night before the fire.
Under the band's published tour schedule, MUNA's next listed concert is on October 21 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, with hemlocke springs, followed by a homecoming show on October 22 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. As of the October 19 reports, neither date had been announced as changed.
People reported that McPherson had announced on September 15 that they would miss part of the tour's opening shows to be with their terminally ill mother, and returned to the tour on September 29. The bus fire occurred during the tour leg after that return.
