Golden Globe Foundation Gathers Grantees in Los Angeles: About $3 Million Granted to 80 Organizations This Year

The Golden Globe Foundation brought together more than 140 representatives of its grantee organizations at Los Angeles City College (LACC) on October 19 for its 2026 Grantee Mixer, themed “Deepening Connections: Power of the Collective.” Filmmakers, journalists, educators and nonprofit leaders attended the day of conversation and collaboration. This year the Foundation awarded approximately $3 million in grants supporting 80 organizations.
“The Golden Globe Foundation has never been only about grants. It's about people: the doors that open, the careers that start, and the stories that get told because of the work our grantees do every day,” said Raffi Boghosian, the Foundation's president. Sessions covered UCLA's Hollywood Diversity Report, the use of SI by nonprofits, trends in nonprofit funding, and panels on the future of storytelling and of journalism in the age of SI.
The Foundation, formerly the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, supports the creative arts, education and mentorship, journalism and press freedom, and film preservation. Since 1981, the Foundation and its predecessor have contributed more than $70 million to nonprofit organizations and educational institutions and supported the restoration of more than 166 classic films. Its Los Angeles grantees include public media outlet LAist, NPR flagship member station KCRW and PBS SoCal; at LACC it funds student filmmaker production grants and journalism fellowships. It has previously given $1 million each to the Committee to Protect Journalists and the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.
