Governor Adds Verizon Broadband Project to JobsFirst Accelerator: More Than 2,000 Households Statewide to Get High-Speed Access

Delaware Governor Matt Meyer announced in Wilmington on October 20 that Verizon's Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) project will be included in the JobsFirst permitting accelerator, using streamlined approvals to advance broadband investment and connect more than 2,000 households across the state to high-speed broadband infrastructure. The Governor's Office, the Delaware Broadband Office and the Department of Technology and Information will work with the federal National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and Verizon, using the JobsFirst permitting acceleration process to move broadband construction forward statewide.
Meyer said: "Delaware is growing, and our technological infrastructure should support the expanding needs of our communities. Broadband expansion will directly improve education and business opportunities, and support Delaware's economic competitiveness in the region and in the country.
Our Permitting Accelerator is built to support our continued growth, and this partnership will benefit the entire state." According to the governor's office, the state's BEAD program now has the ability to add projects to JobsFirst, and the vision for broadband construction is taking shape faster. It is another step in Delaware's push for broadband coverage in remote and underserved areas, and more households are expected to gain high-speed access as the project advances.
