The Utah Mammoth defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-4 on October 20 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. Rookie goaltender Sebastian Cossa made his first NHL home start and earned his first home win, making 15 saves.

The Mammoth improved to 7-3-0 on the season and have won four of their past five games. Clayton Keller, Kevin Stenlund, Nate Schmidt, Kailer Yamamoto and Nick Schmaltz each scored, with Schmaltz's power-play goal early in the third period stretching the lead to 5-2.

For the Penguins, Erik Karlsson and Rickard Rakell each had a goal and an assist and Bryan Rust added two assists; late third-period goals by Egor Chinakhov and Declan Carlile pulled Pittsburgh within one, but the comeback fell short. The Penguins have lost four straight, falling to 3-6-1 and losing seven of their last eight games; head coach Dan Muse said afterward that the team needs to raise its defensive consistency.

Mammoth head coach André Tourigny praised the fourth line of Stenlund, Daniil But and Jack McBain, saying they played "solid, physical, simple and effective hockey."
