Seattle: Gas Station Killing Suspect Arrested in Chicago, Also a Person of Interest in Wisconsin Double Homicide

Seattle — In Seattle, King County, Washington, Seattle police said on the evening of October 20 that Michael Oneal Fleming, 33, the suspect in the fatal shooting of a clerk at a 76 gas station near Belltown, was arrested that evening in Chicago, Illinois, by the U.S. Marshals Service without incident.

The shooting occurred at 5:52 a.m. on October 13 at the 76 station at 351 Broad Street. Officers found the store's 36-year-old manager, Graeme Dobbeck, behind the counter with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Court documents say surveillance video showed a man bring a drink to the counter and fire at least four shots at close range before leaving on foot. Investigators found no sign of robbery, and the store owner reported no known dispute between the two men. King County prosecutors have charged Fleming with first-degree murder, alleging the killing was premeditated; Fleming had worked at the station and resigned weeks before the shooting. The charges have not been proven in court.

Police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, said the same day that Fleming is also a person of interest in a double homicide there: Rodney Brushwood, 57, and Rena O'Neal, 59, were found shot dead on Monday inside the Villa Royale Apartments in the 5500 block of Washington Road. Wisconsin media reported that Rena O'Neal was Fleming's mother and Brushwood her husband. Kenosha police said they will work with the district attorney's office on extradition and charges in Wisconsin. Seattle police had earlier warned that Fleming should be considered armed and dangerous and that anyone who saw him should call 911 and not approach him.
